IELTS WRITING TASK 1 MAP
Introduction (Description):
The two maps illustrate how the town of Springer has evolved from 1970 to the present day. A legend is provided, which includes a compass and eight different elements such as residential areas, commercial buildings, and agricultural land.
Overview (Main Features – Thesis):
Over the past fifty years, Springer has undergone extensive urban development, marked by a noticeable increase in infrastructure and a significant decline in rural landscapes such as farmland and forests.
Body Paragraphs (Analysis):
Body Paragraph 1:
In the northwest part of Springer, residential houses and forests that once dominated the area have been replaced by apartment buildings, significantly reducing green space. To the northeast, an airport has been constructed on land that was previously covered by forest. Meanwhile, the central area of Springer has seen the development of a school and an increased number of retail shops, contributing further to the reduction of wooded areas—although some forested sections still remain to the east and west of this zone.
Body Paragraph 2:
In the southern region, major changes have occurred to the agricultural landscape. Roughly three-quarters of the original farmland have been transformed into a mix of commercial spaces, residential homes, and apartment complexes. Only a small section of farmland remains, located in the far southeastern corner of the town. In contrast, the forested area to the west of Springer has remained largely untouched over the five-decade period.
Summary (What Can Be Learned?):
To sum up, Springer has experienced significant population growth and urban expansion since 1970, leading to the development of numerous new roads to support increased transportation needs.
